Where are my memories stored?

On your phone, and with Premium also in your own iCloud. We have no access to the content of your diary — see the privacy policy.

I'm getting a new phone. What happens to my diary?

With Premium, your diary is backed up to iCloud and comes back on its own on a new phone with the same Apple ID. Without Premium, make a backup file in Settings → Diary backup, then open the file on your new phone — everything comes back, photos included.

How can we both write in the diary?

Settings → Family → Write together → Invite the other parent. Send the invitation by Messages or WhatsApp; the other parent taps the link and the diary appears. You both need to be signed in to iCloud.

How do I show the diary to grandparents?

Settings → Family → Family code. Grandma downloads Deedo, chooses I have a family code in Settings and types it in. She sees the diary read-only. A code is valid for one week and one phone.

I deleted a memory by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes. It waits in the trash for 30 days: Settings → Trash.

How do I add a second child?

Tap the photo at the top of the app and choose Add child. Each sibling gets their own diary.

How can I quickly record what just happened?

Use the microphone next to the plus button, or the Quick memory widget on your home or lock screen (see Settings → Home screen widget). The recording waits until you finish the memory.

Can I lock the diary?

Yes: Settings → Lock diary. It unlocks with Face ID or your phone's passcode.

How do I hand the diary over to my child one day?

Settings → Family → Hand the diary to your child. Write a dedication and you'll get a file to send to their phone, where it opens read-only, forever.

How do I export the diary?

Settings → Export as text. Photos and recordings stay on your phone and in your backup.

How do I cancel my subscription?

In iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Deedo. Everything you wrote stays yours after the subscription ends. To restore a purchase on a new phone, tap Restore purchase in the Premium screen.

How does the free year for recommending Deedo work?

Settings → Recommend Deedo. When three parents install Deedo thanks to you, enter your code, and at least one of them gets Premium, you get a year of Premium for free.
